If I were to ask you to think of any cola brand, what would your answer be? Of course, it would be Coca-Cola and not some random 39p Tesco knockoff (I hope).

The reason this happens is not an accident and we all know it.

But what does this have to do with your marketing? It would be safe to assume that you don’t have the branding budget of a hundred million pounds that companies like Coca-Cola have (and if you do, why are you reading this?).

I want to share with you one of the best investments you can make as a local business.

An investment that ensures when people in your area need a service like yours, your name is the first to jump into their mind.

We need to create some top-of-mind awareness.

Do this to start winning

As a business, you need to do some level of advertising to get people in the door, which isn’t a secret.

You could put up signs and posters, tell your friends, run ads online, and so on.

These are all a great start to bringing in some business, but there is one thing that they all need no matter what.

We need to include a CTA.

CTA stands for ‘call to action’, and it is the best way to turn your ads from a rusty Ford Fiesta into a nice new Porche.

The purpose of a CTA is to get the people who see your ad to do something. And if you use it well, magic happens.

Build your list

“But what does a CTA have to do with creating top-of-mind awareness?”, you might be asking.

We use CTA’s to take our audience along a funnel.

Even if you don’t know what a funnel is, you’ve definitely seen it online already, you’re most likely in a few right now…

‘Sign up for our free e-book’, ‘Message us and we’ll tell you how to do X’, ‘Sign up for our weekly newsletter to learn Y and Z’

These are all things that tell us people are interested in our stuff when they sign up for them. This creates a list of these people and you can use that list to sell them.

In this exchange two things have happened:

  1. The audience member has received something valuable, putting you another step up in their mind when it comes to the service you provide.

  1. We know that they’re interested, no more wasting time getting into contact with people who couldn’t care less.

Make selling easy

When you add CTAs to your stuff and build up that list, you’ll soon see that you’re finding people ready to buy right now AND those still thinking about it.

The people ready to buy now will do their own selling as long as you're putting out the right content.

But the list of those still at that thinking stage are the perfect fit for you to get your foot in the door early, show them that you’re competent, and keep yourself at the very tip top of their mind.

So when they do decide to buy…

You’ll be the first person they think of.

So, let’s start adding CTAs to everything we can and start building that list.

I’ll be talking more about this in the near future, so keep an eye out and don’t miss it.

Talk soon,

Tommy
